U.K. RAILWAYS BREAKDOWNS
Passengers Stage Protest March (Rec. "1030 p.m.) LONDON. February 28. Angry bowler-hatted businessmen marched along a main London railway line last night to protest against a two-hour breakdown in services. According to the "Dally Herald." they waved their umbrellas and shouted "it’s quicker to walk” as they tramped along between Little Chalfont and , Amersham in Buckinghamshire. As a result all trains on the line were ordered to stop. The trouble, according to newspapers, started when a train from London broke down. Passengers were told they would be taken on by buses. But only One bus was available and this took only a quarter of the stranded passengers. When a train did come all crowded aboard and overloaded it, resulting in the unpopular “all change" cry. So the passengers decided to walk and passed around a petition demanding an inquiry,
Archbishop Makarios flew from London Airport tar Rome today after a dramatic three-engined emergency landing at the airport this morning.
