A. i Southerden today played astoniM--1 ingly good golf under windy conditions to win the Festival of WelHng- - ton tournament, with a total of 291. J. D. Durry, the young Wellington and New Zealand representative, who • led the field at the end of the sec- ' ond and third rounds slumped in the final round and finished fourth equal with the recently turned professional, E. J. McDougall. F. X. Buckler, the Hamilton professional, played steady golf • throughout the tournament, but could not match ' Southerden’s performance over the final rounds. Ho 1 took second place. The top amateur • was G. N. Tustin (Hutt). He, too, > played consistently tn head off . Durry for the amateur title.
