NEW CHURCH ROOM

Riccarton Pa Expansion Building will be starting soon on a new Anglican Church room in Avonhead road. It will be an all-purpose room. ■ It is being built because of the expansion of St. Peter’s parish, Riccarton, which now has about 1350 families within its boundaries. The room, which is as yet unnamed, will be 62 feet by 28 feet in area, and will have a sanctuary, kitchen and toilet block attached. It will be built of concrete masonry with a corrugated iron roof. This will be the third church centre within St. Peter’s parish, the other one being St. Luke’s Church, at Yaldhurst. Ultimately it is hoped to build a clergy house and church in the Avonhead area, and the new room is a temporary measure until this can be done.
