WEST HIGH SCHOOL
Mr C. L. Low Leaves Staff
Mr C. L. S. Lbw, who had been on the staff of the Christchurch West High School for 28 years—longer than any of his present colleagues—left the school yesterday to take up an appointment as a post-primary schools inspector. Mr Low was the head of the school’s English and French departments. After training at the Christchurch Teachers’ College and graduating master of arts at
the University of Canterbury Mr Low joined the staff of the school in 1933. It was then the West Christchurch District High When the school was opened as the Christchurch West High School in 1936 Mr Low was- again appointed to the staff. He has been head of the English and French departments for several years. A well-qualified teacher (at French, he has a strong interest in the literary side of I the subject. He was also editor of the school's official magazine "Westonian." I Mr Low took part' in the full i range of’ the school's activities . and was in charge ot the eadet • unit, with the rank of major. He I was an examiner in school certificate French for the last thrso- > year period, and has been a , member of the French Circle for i many years. I A farewell function was held > tee-Jdr Low by the Staff of the • scnitol yesterday afternoon,, and > a presentation made in honour of his long service.
