Rotary Movement’s 54th Year

Founded in 1905 by Mr P. P. Harris, of Chicago, there now are 10,059 Rotary clubs in 111 countries and the total membership of the movement is more than 470J100.

The Rotary Foundation set up in 1947, has awarded 1201 grants to students in 66 countries, at a cost of more than £1 million.

The first Rotary club was established in New Zealand in 1921. New Zealand, which is divided into three districts, now has 97 clubs. There are 1570 clubs in the rest of the British Commonwealth, but nearly half of all the clubs in the world are in the United States.

Authorities in Johannesburg reported no trouble in tracking down a man who stole £9OO worth of perfume from a factory.
