NEW HALL TO BE DEDICATED
Presbyterian Work In Glenmoor
The new Trinity Presbyterian Church hall, at Glenfield crescent, Glenmoor (the new suburb in north-east Christchurch), will be opened and dedicated bn Sunday, March 1. This is an extension ot the work of the St. Albans parish, and will provide much needed church and Sunday school facilities for parishoners in the Glenmoor area. Sister Margaret-Francis, the Presbyterian deaconess at St. Albans, has been concerned mainly with work in this area, and much of the activity in the new hall will be her responsibility. The hall was built by J. Reid and Company and is constructed of hollow concrete blocks painted White. The mainroom. measures 36ft by 25ft and .the interior walls are of varnished wood. A vestry and a kitchen have been built on to the hall, one side of which has been constructed to allow for extensions to be added later. The section on which the hall stands was cleared by voluntary labour by men of the St. Albans parish, and the paths were also laid in this way. Some of the furnishings have been given by parishoners.
Trinity Hall cost about £3OOO to build. Part of this sum was a loan from the New Life Fund of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, and part was. contributed by the St. Albans parish. Plans for the Glenmoor area include the building of a church when population warrants it. The Rev. W, M. ’ Hendrie will officiate at the opening of the hall, and the Rev. M. W. Wilson will preach.
