Amateur’s Visit To Auckland

“The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND, February 16. Radio “hams” do not need maps when they go on a motoring holiday, according to Mr N. A. Dixon, of Palmerston North. “I’d never been to Auckland

before,” he said, “so a radio enthusiast at Ponsonby offered to guide me around, by air. AU I •had to do was drive my car, switch on my set and listen where to go.” Mr Dixon and his wife were guided around Auckland like this for two days.

* ‘lt was far better and quicker than looking at a map all the time,” Mr Dixon said. “We were also told over the air what to look at.”

On the way to Auckland Mr Dixon spoke to several other radio “hams;”
