Eight Deaths In Fire

(N.Z Press Associatlon-rCovurtght» ASHLAND (Kentucky), Feb. 14. Eight persons, including a newly-born baby, died and five were missing, presumed dead, in a fire which swept through a combination apartment and business building in Ashland, Kentucky, early today. Police had stood In the street trying to catch people who jumped from the windows Of the twostorey building. The five who were missing were believed -4o have been members of one family, trapped when the roof caved in. The Fire Department brought the blaze almost under control within an hour. They were still uncertain about its cause. The gutted apartments were on the second floor of the building above a restaurant and a taxicab office.
