DULLES HAS CANCER

Extent Not Yet Determined (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 9 pan.) WASHINGTON, February 14. President Eisenhower announced today that the American Secretary of State (Mr Dulles) has cancer of an undetermined extent. The President, who visited Mr Dulles at the Walter Reed Army Hospital, said in a statement that he expressed “the thoughts and prayers of all of us that the results of his operation and the further course of treatment will be successful.” The President said that Mr Dulles would continue to take leave of absence while radiation therapy to kill the malignancy was undertaken. Mr Dulles’s malignancy—the second he has suffered in a little more than two years—was in the abdominal region. It was discovered after the removal of tissue and fluid during a hernia toperation yesterday morning.
