South Island Team Placed Second

(New Zealana Press Assoctattont HASTINGS, February 18. Although giving an almost faultless display of jumping in the second round, the South Island team could not win the Rutherford Cup at the New Zealand Horse Society's Hawke's Bay area show at Hastings on Saturday. .The trophy went to Auckland, with the South Island, moving up from fourth in the first round to finish second, ahead of Australia. The South Island team comprised Miss N. Darling's Remember, Miss M. Hazlett's Surf, C. Mould's Treason, and E. Uprichard’s Landrover. A feature of the morning round, staged in drizzle and with approaches cutting out, was the fault-free circuit of the Auckland captain, R. B. Hansen, on Sportsmaster. Miss Darling on Remember was well applauded for an almost fault-free circuit.,

The Canterbury combination, E. Upri chard on Landrover, did not find conditions to their liking at all in this round. However, conditions improved considerably in the second round in the afternoon, and the South Island team performed especially well, forfeiting only a quarter of a point. Miss Darling on Remember opened for the South Island with a faultfree run. Uprichard on Landrover repeated the performance, and Mould on Treason had only a quarter of a point debited as a time fault. Landrover retains his lead in the F.EJ. points competition associated with the Australian tour with 36 points, eight ahead of the Australian Our Chief, with Treason third with 23 points, ahead of the Australian's Pilgrim, Pleasant Royal and Whisper. There are three more shows to go. P.T.A. Association/—More than 110 parents and teachers attended the annual meeting of the Burnside School Parent-Teacher Association. < The new headmaster (Mr T. j.
