WORLD CAR RACING

B. McLaren In Cooper Team

New Zealand’s international racing driver, Bruce McLaren, has been selected for the Formula 1 Cooper racing team which will compete in the world championship points series of grand prix races this season. Advice of this was received by the secretary of the New Zealand Racing Drivers’ Club (Mr B. H. Paton) in Christchurch yesterday from Mr L. McLaren, the father of Bruce McLaren and the club’s president. McLaren’s selection has been brought about by the retirement of Roy Salvador! from the Cooper. Formula 1 team. McLaren will be teamed with Jack Brabham, of Australia.

McLaren’S first race will be the international meeting at Goodwood on March 28. He will drive a new Cooper car which will have the same rear spring arrangement and single wishbone which were prominent features of the car he raced last season.
