MISSILES IN GERMANY

Minister Replies To Protests

(A7.Z. Press Association—Copyright) VILSHOFEN (West Germany), J February 11 Britain is prepared to station the most modern weapons in the city of Dortmund so the Russians will have no doubt that the West is ready to defend Berlin and West Germany, the West German Defence Minister (Dr. FranzJosef Strauss) said today. The Minister, ’criticising th* Ruhr town’s protests against the stationing of a British Army guided missile unit there, said the British attitude was not being properly appreciated. Mr Strauss told a meeting of the Christian Democratic Party in Vilshofen that the Russians could be restrained from attacking Europe only by arming with atomic weapons

He warned against yielding even one step to the Russians on the Berlin question without a counter-concession.
