“Britain Wants N.Z. Beef’

(N.Z. Press Association—Covyright/ LONDON, February 11. The Minister of Agriculture (Mr John Hare) said that Britain wanted more beef from New Zealand, at a New Zealand Society dinner in London tonight. “We are rather short of beef at the moment,” he said. “I know that in New Zealand you find you have a lucrative market for beef in the United States. We canpot quarrel with that but our market here is always open.”

Mr Hare said butter had dominated British-New Zealand relations in the last year. .What they all wanted to see with butter and other. primary products was a fair price.

Mr Hare thought Britain’s action last year restricting imports

oLcubsidiaed butter was welcomed in New Zealand. New Zealand butter prices now stood at 290 s compared with 200 s last year.
