UNIVERSITY TOUR OVER
N.Z. Wins Last Match (N.Z. Press' Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, Feb. 12. The New Zealand Universities’ tennis team won the last match of its Australian tour when it defeated the Sydney University men’s team by 5 matches to 1 today Since arriving in Australia the .members of the team have played 17 matches, of which 14 have been won. All 12 matches against university opponents were won, the three losses being to State representative sides. The New Zealand team will return to. Christchurch on Sunday. Results (New Zealand names first) were:—
Singles.—B. Woolf beat M. Callaghan, 7-5, 6-4; G. Roberts beat L. Rae,. 6-2. 8-6; G. Judge lost to J. Blizard, 3-6, 3-6; F. Scarhtt beat G. Primrose, 2-6, 6-1, 6-2. Doubles.—Woolf and Judge beat Callaghan and Rae. 6-4, 6-3; Roberts and Scarlett beat Blizard and Primrose, 6-2. 4-6, 6-0. z TENNIS TOWN AND COUNTRY ON FEBRUARY 28 The Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association has arranged- for the annual fixture. Town v. Country:, to be played at Wilding Park on Saturday February 28. starting at 10.30 a.m. Players who. compete in the interclub competitions and who are available for selection in the Town teams are requested to give their names to Club Secretaries before Wednesday next, February 18. Players will be selected for Senior and Junior (under IB) teams, and the teams win ba published on Tuesday, February M. —Advt.
