NEW TRENTHAM HANDICAPPER
Mr R. N. Bluett Appointed
(New Zealand Press Association} WELLINGTON. Feb. 3. Mr R. N .Bluett, of Palmerston North, has been appointed handicapper by the Wellington Racing Club to succeed Mr W. P. Russell, who ’will retire after declaring the weights for the coming autumn meeting in March. Mr Bluett is a member of an old Taranaki racing family and has been submitting handicaps to the Wellington Racing Club for various meetings in the district for a number of years. He has also been appointed handicapper by the Manawatu Racing Club and will make his first official assessment for the latter club’s winter meeting in June. Mr A. O’Brien, of Wellington, has been appointed handicapper for the Wanganui Jockey Club. Mr O’Brien is well known in journalistic circles and for many years has been a handicapper td clubs in the Wellington and Taranaki districts. ■ :> ■■
Mr B. M. Bergin, a Wanganui journalist, has been appointed handicapper for the Foxton Racing Cliib. He is a son of the late Mr M. B. Bergin, who was judge for many clubs in the Wellington district.
