VILLAGES RAZED
Cyclone In New Caledonia
(Rec. 11.30 p.m.) NOUMEA (New Caledonia), January 23. Governor Laurent Pechoux is today touring villages razed by the 140 kilometres an hour cyclone which struck New Caledonia last Sunday. The worst-hit village, according to late reports, was the tourist centre of Touho. where not a house was left standing. One man was killed when his hut collapsed at the height of the storm. Officials have radioed to France for emergency supplies for the Btricken villages.
