Lemons
Sir,—As a constant, user of lemons (whed ' available) I heartily agree, with previous correspondents Jn suggesting that the Californian lemons should have been acquired in time to avoid the present shortage. Would the Minister ot Finance expect a farmer to prosper if he allowed his. turnips to rot in the paddock while his sheep awaited a supply from California? Why should the finances of this fair but ill-managed country be so far removed from those of the individual? As one who would gladly use the juice of a lemon though the skin be blemished, may I ask, why do all the women’s organisations remain silent when surely a combined effort could express the indignation of such large numbers, and let us hope to put an end to some of the waste brought about by the crazy marketing laws. Please wake up New Zealand women.—Yours, etc, WASTE NOT', WANT NOT. January 21, 1959. s— .
