BOY BELIEVED DROWNED
Three Others Rescued

OTAKI, January 23. : A Wellington boy is believed to have been drowned at Otaki beach this afternoon when beaM four others with whom he was bathing got into difficulties. Three, of the others were rescued by junior members of the Otaki Surf . Life-saving Club, the other being washed into shallow Water ant ’ wading ashore. v , d r o^e b d y iB belieVed t 0 haVe Keith Bray, aged 10, of Wadeatown. Those who were rescued were Stephen Jefferson, aged nine, and '. his brother, lan, aged seven, at Karori, and Janet Hewson, aged 10, of Upper Hutt Her brother, lan, aged six, was washed inshore by a wave. y r ' The five children. all of whom were spending a holiday at the beach, were under the supervision of an adult, but were carried into a hole and beyond their depth. No patrol was operating, but the junior members of the surf club were nearby. A search for the missing boy is continuing.
