Game With Auckland Colts' (New Zeaiana Press Association) AUCKLAND. Jan. 22. Playing Auckland Colt* today, the touring Australian Emu Cricket Club lost the first two batsmen for no runs and the next at nine. The side had lost six wickets for 66 before T. Grosser and J. Gleeson brought the score to 148. when Grosser was dismissed. The Australians, had confidence that enabled them to get out of an awkward predicament and ultimately scored 180 (D. W. Cluff 24, T. Grosser 37. J. Gleeson 56, T. Gleeson 15; L. Green four for 59, R. E. Sutton two for 38, D. Anderson two for 31, R. Sissons two for 33). A fine unbeaten 55 by the Cornwall spin bowler, L. Green, saved Auckland Colts from complete collapse in their first innings, and they were still 64 runs behind the visitors’ first innings total at stumps, with four wickets remaining. The other top scorers were R. W. Morgan (25) and R. E. Sutton (15). W. Noble took three wickets for 32 runs, S. Gilchrist two for 39, and P. Bruce one for 10. The match will end tomorrow.
