Minister Meets duel Of Staff
Discussions on the future of the army were held yesterday at Southern Military District headquarters. The discussions were between the. Minister of Defence (Mr Connolly) and the district chief of staff (Lieutenant-Colonel R. A. Tinker) ■ Colonel Tinker was representing the district commander (Brigadier J. T. Burrows) who is in Invercargill for the ceremony of conferring freedom of the City on the Ist OtagoSouthland Regiment Among the subjects discussed by Colonel Tinker and Mr Connolly was the army's recruiting drive for both Regular and Territorial Forces. Later it was announced that the officer commanding Area 10 (Major J R- Spence) had been designated district staff officer for recruiting;
