HORNBY HOTEL
Election For Trust
A new licensing trust is to be formed in Hornby, for the establishment of a hotel on a site of an acre and a quarter in Tower street Hornby, approved by the Christchurch Licensing Committee. Nominations for the six members of the trust have been called for, and will elose at noon on February 6, at the office of the Paparua County Council. The County Clerk (Mr A. Kelly) has been appointed as returning officer by the Minister of Justice (Mr Mason). The election will be held on February 28, and all electors in Hornby county town and riding are entitled to be nominated for the trust.
The trust, when elected, will be a separate local authority and will be responsible for the administration of its own affairs. Future elections of the trust will be held every three years, at the time of the county council elections, with the exception of the first year—as a county election is planned for next year, the first trust election will not be held until November, 1962. At the end of each term three members will go out of office and their positions will be filled by an election.
The existing county rolls already contain the names of all ratepayers and all residents who have previously applied to vote in coiinty elections. Copies of the roll may be seen at the council office. The supplementary roll closes on January 30, at 5 p.m.
Where property is jointly owned only the first name mentioned in the joint ownership may be placed on the roll as a ratepayer, Other joint owners must make application for residential enrolment.
