Vanwall's Withdrawal A Bitter Blow To Racing

rpHREE months -after the most triumphant day in the history of British motor racing—when Stirling Moss won the Moroccan Grand Prix at Casablanca and secured for Vanwall the World Manufacturers’ championship—Mr Tony Vandervell has announced that his cars will not contest races in the future. This decision will be regretted by motor racing enthusiasts throughout the world, for it deprives the sport of one of its greatest marques in recent years. Mr VanderveU’s withdrawal from motor racing has not come as a complete surprise, since it appeared likely at- the beginning of 1958 that he was finished. But in a final flourish, the green cars swept all before them last season, winning six of the nine world championship events.
