STRONG CANTERBURY TEAM FOR N.Z. CROQUET TITLES

pOR the first time the N.Z. croquet championships will be held in Nelson this year to coincide with the province’s cathedral centenary. The tournament will commence on January 20. The New Zealand championships are held in the South Island once every three years and the Canterbury association hopes to be the host in 1962. That tournament will be one of the most important yet held in this country, for it will be the basis on which players will be selected to represent New Zealand in the next season for the coveted Macßobertson international trophy. Advice has been received by the New Zealand Croquet Council that both England, the present holder, and Australia have accepted New Zealand’s invitation to play a series of triangular test matches beginning in January, 1963.
