0. Sarapu Still Fourth

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 11 p.m.) SYDNEY. Jan. 13. The New Zealand player, O. Sarapu. who is still in fourth position in fhe Sydney Internationa] Chess Tournament, has not yet finished his eleventh round game against John Hanks, of Victoria. Tonight, the tournament goes Into the thirteenth round, and the marathon 10-hour battle between Sarapu and Hanks, still undecided after resumed play today, was adjourned to a fourth session.

Meanwhile, Sarapu’s twelfth round against the Victorian title-holder, K. Ozols. also resumed today, was further adjourned until tomorrow. It is thought by chess experts that Sarapu will lose his game against Hanks, but beat Ozols.

Sarapu tonight is playing the Tasmanian champion Oscar Weber. The Indonesian. Max Wotulo, at present in second position in the 16round tournament, is playing the former New South Wales champion, H. Klass, tonight. J. R. Phillips, the 16-year-old New Zealand national champion, with 6J points, has John Hanks as his opponent in tonight’s round. v

The other Indonesian player. Arovah Bachtiar, is third with 8£ points, and is playing the .former Australian champion John Purdy. L. Steiner is leading the tournament with 9 points, and his twelfth round game, which was resumed today. will be continued tomorrow.
