I The Geelong wool sales today were II fully firm on yesterday’s Sydney rates, although, compared with I levels before Christmas, fine come- ; backs were par to 2>/ 2 per cent. ■ cheaper. Fine and super fine • Merinos were very irregular and reI latively cheap, compared with stronger types. There was good general competition, headed by the Continent. East Europe, and local mills, supported by the United Kingdom and Japan, for the 16.500 bales, with a 95 per cent, clearance. I Crossbred prices:—Extra super, 64’s, 78%d; good, 56’s, 54d; good, 50’s, 52d. Values were generally unchanged on yesterday’s levels, when the Sydney wool sales continued today, and competition was sustained and widei spread. Main buyers were Britain, i the Continent, and Japan. I There was some irregularity in
quoted burry and inferior wools, especially short stapled fleeces, but comebacks and crossbreds were firm. Of the 16.508 bales offered, 16.163 were cleared.
Crossbred prices:—good, 60/64’s. 58d; good, 60’s, 53d; super. 60’s, 61 %d.
