Roller Skating EXHIBITION AT BARRACKS

Proceeds For Team To Tour

After being turned away in thousands from the Barracks on Sunday evening, crowds made sure of their seats for the roller skating exhibition last, evening by forming a queue early. By J p.m., there were a number waiting on the footpath, sitting, standing, eating fish and chips, and talking. At 7 o'clock, there was a trail Into Cambridge terrace as far en the Y.m.C.A, building on Hereford street. Many of the 1500 who had already booked seats were also waiting to get in. There was a capacity audience when the show began, and still a few coming in. \ The programme was much the same as it was on Sunday, when the proceeds were for the Town Hall Promotion Fund. The money from this show will be used by the New Zealand Roller Skating Association to send a team to the next world championships, which will be held in either Tokyo or London. . The crowd watched the world dance champions in complete silence as they gave an Interpretation of the music from the film, “The Robe.” The two dancers were dressed in gold and silver sequined costumes, with large red crosses in sequins. The surprise item was a clowning performance, when two bedraggled skaters played leapfrog, nearly collided at speed, and delighted the audience with their antics.
