D. S. Lowry Has Third Win
(New Zoalana Press Association) DANNEVIRKE. January 12. The Dominion draughts tournament at Dannevirke concluded with the championship being won by D. S. Lowry for the third time. The runner-up was P. L. Prince, of Wanganui. A. L. R. Noonan, of Tokomaru Bay. was third. First prize in the handicap section was won jointly by W. Cibilic, of Auckland, and R. J. Wiflfin. of Dannevirke. At a meeting of the New Zealand Draughts Association, held after the tournament, the following officers were elected:— Patron, Mr E. Gibbard < Dannevirke); president. Mr R. C. MacMurray (Dunedin); first vice-nresi-dent, Mr W. Cibilic (Auckland); other vice-presidents. Messrs A. L. R. Noonan (Tokomaru Bay). D. Calderwood (Hamilton). W. O’Mailey (Christchurch). T. Gtlhooly (Dannevirke), and W. McArthur (Greymouth); committee. Messrs G. Ashby, V. T. Cibilic, K. Halvin, D Warner, R. Philburn, B. Tenebaum, and B. Jaffe, all of Auckland; secretary, Mr M. J. Rooney, of Auckland. The next tournament is to be held in Dunedin.
