MATE is a literary periodical edited in Auckland and printed by the Pilgrm Press. It is published as suitable material comes to hand, a method which, ought to ensure an even quality of contents. Some of the writers of the stories and poems are well known; others appear to be new writers. A contribution by Frank Sargeson is an excerpt from a novel in progress. The contributions in the review copy (No. 2) are of good standard, suggesting that this venture merits encouragement.
