INQUIRIES AT ADDINGTON
After the Charles Cross Stakes at Addington yesterday an inquiry was held into the interference received with eight and a half furlongs to run by Gay Baron, driven by W. K. Tatterson, from Queen Ngaio, driven by F. E. Newfield.
After hearing the evidence and from their own observations, it was found that Newfield Was guilty of shifting ground and causing interference to Gay Baron. Newfield was fined £2O. After the running of the Middleton Handicap an inquiry was held into the racing manners of Zagar. Zagar was declared ineligible to start at any totallsator meeting for three months. After the same race, J. A. Donaldson. owner-trainer of Lavella. was told that this horse must show improvement in barrier manners, otherwise action would be taken. Before the meeting started the club’s veterinary surgeon witnessed a trial by Guard’s Brigade and found this horse fit to race. Guard's Brigade was banned from starting on the first day of the meeting, but he started in the Mason Handicap yesterday and won.
