“I am surprised and puzzled at Mr Allen’s statement. There cannot be any race for the simple reson that we have already been there.” said Rear Admiral George J. One of our aircraft crashed on the Thurston Peninsula and we can prove it With three dead bodies, three crosses and three American flags buried there. “We rescued the four survivors of .the crew by landing a seaplane in open water alongside the coast and brought them back over the ice belt to the Pine Island.” Rear-Admiral Dufek said that the Navy’s mission in the Antarctic was to resupply existing bases, exchange personnel this season, and reduce the number of bases from seven to four. “If
