No Search For Balloon
(NJS. Press Association—Copyright) NEW YORK, January 1. Mr Peter Elstob. one ot the promotors of the British attempt to fly a manned balloon across the Atlantic, said today he had no firm plans for requesting a ; search for the missing balloon. Mr Elstob said the crew of the Small World had estimated that their voyage would take three < weeks. They set out from the , Canary Islands, bound for the British West Indies, 19 days ago. ‘ Although there have been reports from time to time of radio contact with the balloon—the latest two days ago—lt Is 13 days since radio listeners were sure that it was the Small World they were hearing. Mr Elstob, who is waiting in New York for definite news of a landing or sighting before flying south to meet the Small World, said he would not feel there was a real emergency for at least another week.
