Political Riot In Mexico
MEXICO CITY, January 2. More than 100 persons were injured. at least 18 with gunshot wounds, in a clash between political rioters and police fit Fresnillo, in west central Mexico. , A crowd of about 5000 tried to take possession of the City Hall. Headed by the, organisation "Civic Action," they want to keep Jose Encarnacion Castro from taking over as Mayor, a post he won in a recent election. The crowd tried at first to burn the doors of the building. This developed into a half-hour battle with the police. The crowd used sticks, stones, and petrol bottle bombs against the police gups General Anacleto Lopez, head of the area military zone, persuaded both sides to stop fighting when he talked to them over a loud-speaker system. Army troops later took control of the city.
