The Day Lily There are many so-called day lilies, hut the title is generally reserved tor this fine hardy perennial with its lily-like trumpet Sowers in many colours. It will grow anywhere, from a dry position under trees to the moist areas of the water garden. Yellow and orange colours predominate, but it lends itself to cross pollination with the result that many new shades are on the market from hybridisers. It is a pity that the flowers are so short lived, but these are produced in such profusion that its place among attractive border plants is secure, especially with the advent of the new pink shadings.
