“Chinese Activity Near India”

LONDON, December 11.

The Chinese Communists, with Russian help, are building rocket and other military bases in Tibet, according to a “Daily Express” dispatch from the border of India and Tibet.

These hydrogen-bomb proof strongholds, often hidden inside mountains, could serve as bases tar any advance into India should Mr Nehru be toppled by a government allied militarily with the West ok should India go to war with Pakistan, in which case the Chinese would surge forward into strategic frontier zones. Deep tunnels, food stores, armouries, hospitals, barracks, and long-range Russian guns had been drilled and blasted into the high mountains of Tibet, said the “Daily Express." Strongpoints were tucked into villages so well camouflaged that from the air nothing could be spotted. Helicopter landing grounds were built on the lower foothills.
