St. Andrews Stock Sale
(Front Our Own Reporter) , TIMARU, December 11. A Afery large yarding of 180 head of fat cattle came forward for yesterday’s sale at St. Andrews. The bulk of the penning comprised light to medium-weight heifers, and unfinished steers, which had a depressing effect on the market. Good quality steers and heifers sold reasonably well, but taken over all the demand was not over keen and an odd pen was passed at auction. The store cattle entry was of medium size, but little interest was taken by farmers present. Values were:— Prime steers, £47 2s 6d to £5O 2s 6d; medium steers, £4l 2s 6d to £45 2s fid; light steers, £36 2s 6d to £39 2s 6d. Prime heifers, £37 2s 6d to £4l 2s 6d; light to medium heifers, £l7 2s 6d to £27 2s 6d. Prime cows, £3l 2s 6d to £37 12s 6d; light to medium cows, £l5 2s 6d to £26 12s 6d.
