Dutch Guerrillas May Fight In Indonesia

AMSTERDAM, December 10. A secret organisation, consisting of soldiers who fought in Korea and other veterans, had been formed in Holland, with guerrilla war against Indonesia as one of its aims, the Socialist newspaper “Het Vrije Volk” reported.

The group calleu "Carnation” was also believed to have prepared an attack upon the Indonesian Embassy in The Hague, the newspaper said. “Het Vrije Volk” claimed it began with the attempt to murder the Indonesian Military Attache, Mr H. T. Harsono, in May, 1952, in the Indonesian Embassy. “The next affair was the yacht Evipan, with which Captain Westerling wanted .to sail to Ceram to fight for the liberation of the South Moluccas Republic in 1955,” the newspaper said.

“Reportedly both affairs were the work of an organisation

which preceded the ‘Carnation',” it said. “Two years ago this organisation was re-established, better organised than ever.” The independent newspaper “Het Parool” also reported the existence of the organisation, and alleged that the plan to attack the Indonesian Embassy had been made in November, 1957, when the anti-Dutch campaign in Indonesia' was approaching its summit. Amsterdam police, the internal Security Service and members of the Netherlands Veteran Legion, however, prevented the plan being put into operation, it said.
