CURRENT NOTES
Auckland Grammar School O.G.A—The Christchurch branch of the Auckland Grammar School Old Girls’ Association held a morning tea meeting at the National Party Club rooms recently. The branch had been in existence only 12 months, said the president (Mrs L. A. Barnes) who expressed her pleasure at the large number of former pupils present from both the Auckland and Epsom Grammar Schools. A report of the seventieth anniversary celebrations held in Auckland rerecently was given by Mrs F. H. Fordyce. Rennerdale Residents. The residents of Rannerdale Home were entertained recently by the Melody Makers’ Concert Party. The programme, arranged by Mrs Phyllis Hewstone, was given by the following: Marion Bennett, Pat Matthews, Denise Cox. Rosemary Hewstone, Meryl McKay, Colleen Pawsey, Dawn Ellis, Ray O'Connor, Douglas Walker, Gavin Cumming, Trevor Bennett, Tom Taylor, David Wallis, Gaven Bennett, Fred Trench, Frank Prebble, Bernard Swift. The pianists were Mesdames Prebble and Ferris. Temperance Convention.—The problem of accommodating delegates from all parts of New Zealand to the Dominion convention of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union next March was discussed by the North Canterbury executive. Each union was represented at the meeting which was held in the Cambridge Terrace Methodist Hall. Mrs H. Griffiths welcomed members. It was reported that money to buy Christmas comforts for patients, was being sent to Sunnyside Hospital.
