Whangarei had 1.71 inches for the 24 hours to 9 am The rain was accompanied b] thunder and lightning and th' electricity supply was disrupts, during the early hours of th morning. No flooding was re ported. A fall of 1.48 in was recorde, at Taupo for the 24 hours to I a.m. today. The level of th lake remained unchanged. Onl; light showers were recorded a Waikaremoana. Rain throughout the Waira rapa overnight has relieved th serious drought on the eaa coast, but has caused the post poncment of the attempt.-on th world record for shearing lamb which was to have been mad by Mr Jim Morris tomorrow a Eparaima, Homewood. The sheet are too wet to be shorn. The rain came in the nick d time for most farmers on tn coastal belt, where the dry. con ditions were becoming serioui Nearly an inch of rain fell i| some places. |
