Seaman Found Dead

(New Zealand Press Association) TAURANGA, Dec. 1. A seaman who had joined the Union Steam Ship Company’s freighter Korowai, now loading at the Mount wharf, only two days previously in Auckland, was found dead in his bunk by his cabin mate yesterday morning. He was Mr John Vincent Martin BiUach, single, an Mr Billach shared a cabin with another seaman, Mr Gerald Charles Reginald Maw. When he awoke yesterday, Mr Maw called his cabin-mate, but he did not respond and Mr Maw assumed he was sound asleep. When he returned to the cabin about 11.30 a.m., Mr Billach was still in his bunk and on investigating, Mr Maw found that he was dead. An inquest for Identification purposes was opened yesterday and adjourned, a post-mortem examination being ordered.
