MAGISTRATE FOR TIMARU
Representations By City Council
(From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU, November 24. That the Prime Minister (Mr Nash) is now in New Zealand was regarded by the Timaru City Council at its monthly meeting this evening as presenting an opportunity to urge the reappointment of a resident Magistrate in Timaru. The Mayor (Mr R. E. White) said he was “astounded” on his return from overseas to find that in South Canterbury’s centennial year nothing had been done. “We arc concerned with the position and want some action.” Mr White said. The council decided that the sub-committee appointed at the meeting of representatives of local bodies in South Canterbury be , requested to consider making : further representations to the Prime Minister for the appointment of a Magistrate for South Canterbury, resident in Timaru.
