Increased Net Profit

Phillips and Impey. Ltd., Auckland oil and colour merchants, made a consolidated net profit of £59,220 in the year to August 31. This compares with a consolidated net profit of £53,636 last year. Of this year’s profit, the sum of £4086 is due to minority shareholders.
The result is after tax provision of £58,823 (£55,130 last year) and depreciation provision of £11,351 (£9413). Dividend, maintained at 10 per cent,, takes a steady £25,000. General reserve is credited with £15.977 (£24,123). Carry-forward is increased from £46,291 to £60,890. Of the consolidated tax paid profit of £55,134 the sum of £41,155 has been brought into the accounts of the holding company and the balance retained in the accounts of subsidiary companies.
