MINOR FIRES

Fifteen feet of a paling fence and a shed were destroyed by fire in Hawford road, Opawa, yesterday afternoon. The fence was on property owned by Mr W. H. Liddicoat, and the shed on adjoining property, owned by Mr B. S. Youill. Units from the Central Fire Brigade and the Sydenham Fire Brigade attended at 4.26 p.m. A poultry house and four feet of fence at 118 Avonside drive, occupied by Mr F. Edmiston, were destroyed by fire yesterday morning. One from the Central Fire Brigade attended at 11.12 a.m.

A unit from the New Brighton Fire Brigade attended a chimney fire at 9 Sinclair street. New Brighton, occupied by Mr L. Dixey, at 9.56 a.m. No damage was caused.

Units from the Sockburn Fire Brigade extinguished two fires yesterday. At 12.23 a.m. a unit attended a hay fire at 26 Shands track, owned by Mr O. Fairbain. There was slight damage to the hay. One acre of grass on property on Halswell Junction road, owned by Mr W. James, was destroyed by fire yesterday afternoon. One unit from Sockburn attended.

A small grass fire at 457 Lyttelton street, owned by the Christchurch City Council, was extinguished by a unit from the Central Fire Brigade at 4.57 p.m.
