Neptune To Attempt Flight From Pole
The United States Navy Neptune aircraft stranded at the South Pole since last Sunday was to attempt to take off for MuMurdo Sound at 5 p.m. yesterday, according to a message received at the Navy headquarters in Christchurch last evening. An earlier attempt by Lieu-tenant-Commander J. St. Marie to fly the Neptune out yesterday morning was cancelled because of bad weather. Conversion Charge.—P o 1 i c e officers arrested a man found in possession of a stolen truck in Papanui road last evening. The truck, which had been missing from Templeton since November 11. was a 1946 rnpdel. The man will appear in the Magistrate's Court this morning on a charge of converting a motor-vehicle.
