ECLIPSE STAKES TODAY

Webster Clear Favourite

(N.Z Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8.30 p.m.) MELBOURNE, Nov. 21. The three-year-old Webster has been made a clear-cut favourite for the £3OOO Eclipse Stakes at Caulfield tomorrow—the last of Melbourne’s big spring handicaps. The New Zealand-bred Baron Boissier has drifted in the betting and shares third line with the Williamstown Cup winner. Droll. Prince and Famed. In second place is Saranover.

Webster Is the only three-year-old in the Eclipse, which has not been a good race for three-year-olds. Only one three-year-old Don Pedro In 1945—has won the race. Webster has not started since he won the weight-for«age C. B. Fisher Plate a fortnight ago from Prince Darius and Monte Carlo. He has worked well, and his owners delayed a spell so that he could run tomorrow.

Bookmakers claim it Is the moit open betting race of any of the spring handicaps. There is only a point and a half difference between the first five horses.

NEW ZEALAND METROPOLITAN TROTTING CLUB. INC. WITHDRAWALS for All Events on the Fourth Day of the above Club’s Cup Meeting to be held on the 29th November, must be received by 4 p.m. on Monday next, November 24. D. C. PARKER. Secretary. —Advt.
