All Types Of Wool Better At Napier
(New Zeaiana Press Association)
NAPIER. November 21. , The first main wool sale at Napier of the 1958-59 season was 1 continued today before a very full and representative bench of,< buyers, when an offering of 20.505 bales was submitted for auction, states the official report of the Hawke's Bay Woolbrokers’ Asso- , ciation. the New Zealand Woolbuyers’ Association and the New Zealand Wool Commission. The offering was similar to that on Wednesday and included a proportion of specialty wools, especially paper felts and fine! hoggets. These sold very strongly; 1 and paper felts brought prices j from 42d to 49d. The ewe wools from the drought areas were dusty j and thin in some cases. i Bidding was brisk and well spread with competition from all sections of the trade. The Continent was the principal buyer , with strong competition from North America and Japan on specialty wools, with New Zealand mills bidding freely on suitable lots. Bradford operated only moderately. The market was in sellers’ favour on all types. Extra fine crossbreds and also coarse crossbreds showed a slight rise. Skirtings were 2£ per cent, dearer. It was only necessary for the Wool! Commission to bid on very odd • occasions. The following is the official | range of prices:— Snulhrinwn SR/SO's— d. CX. i
