BUS DRIVERS’ DISPUTE
Settlement In Auckland

Auckland buses will run as usual on Monday. The stop-work meeting of bus drivers which was to bo hold at 1 p.m. on that day was called off late this afternoon. '
The meeting was to be held to discuss the dismissal of a bus driver on what the secretary of the Auckland branch of the Passenger Transport Workers’ Union <Mr E. A. Whitlow) described as the unsupported evidence of a regulator. Final agreement was reached between the union and the Auckland Transport Board after negotiations which took place this morning and afternoon. The board agreed to reinstate the driver without penalty, pending “a full inquiry into all aspects of the matter.’’
Workers’ Cycle Award.— An increase of lid an hour in basicrates for adults is included in an award for New Zealand cycle workers, issued yesterday by the Arbitration Court. The award will operate from December 1 next until November 19. 1960. It embodies terms of settlement in Conciliation Council.— (P.A.)
