Good Prospects At

Week-end

Fishing conditions throughout Canterbury at the week-end promise to be good, with six of the major rivers reported clear and fishable by the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society at 9 a.m yesterday The Waiau river at the main traffic bridge, the Hurunui river at the main traffic bridge, the Ashley river, the Waimakariri at Woodstock, the Selwyn river at the mouth, and the Rakaia river at the gorge were all clear

and fishable yesterday morning The Rakaia mouth was slightly discoloured, and the Waimakariri mouth slightly milky. The Halswell river at Greenpark was unfishable because of Catchment Board operations At Arthur's Pass yesterday morning the weather was fine, without cloud, and there was a light northerly wind. No rain has fallen there since last Tuesday.

At Coleridge and Cuiverden the weather was fine and calm. Light winds and continued fine weather are forecast in these areas during the week-end.
