S.I. DIAGNOSTIC STATION
Firm Attitude By Progress League
A firm attitude will be taken by j the Canterbury Progress League, in urging immediate action in the! establishment of a diagnostic sta-i tion in the South Island. The! league, whose members last evening complained of “years of shillyshallying” on this question, will! write to the Minister of Agri-: culture (Mr Skinner). The league took this action after' hearing replies from the New Zea-, land Meat and Wool Boards. The league asked the two boards! whether the Government was en-j tirely responsible for the delay.; or. if not. whether the league' could help the boards in finding! a solution. The boards’ replies, which went I no further than to assure the! league that everything possible! was being done, were considered Ito be unsatisfactory, and led to the decision to write to the Mini-! | ster. Hilltop Road.— The National! Roads Board intended to push ahead with improvement of the i Hilltop to Barrys Bay section 'of the Akaroa highway, but this work would have to depend upon its relative importance in coin- ■ parison with other projects, according to a leter from the I board. i S.l. Publicity.— The league agreed to join the South Island; i Publicity Association.
