Visits By Two U.S. Skating Groups

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 19. A team of 18 American skaters will start a tour of New Zealand in Auckland on December 30. A second American team of four will start another tour on December 8. The first team, which is being sponsored by the New Zealand Roller-Skating Association, will give exhibitions and compete at the international championships at Christchurch in January. The second group, which is touring under the direction of the rival Amateur Roller-Skating Association of New Zealand, will skate in 18 towns in both islands. The president of the New Zealand Roller-Skating Association (Mr G. S. Bright), of Auckland, said today that the other association, a breakaway body, was only trying to “throw a spanner in the works.” The four American tourists were also members of a breakaway group.
