Pilots Strike In Australia SYDNEY, November 18 Qantas Empire Airways will cancel lour international flights out of Sydney on Thursday. November 20. because of a 24-hour stoppage by Australian air pilots. The strike also affects all Australian domestic airlines. The Air Pilots’ Association has called the stoppage as part of its campaign to obtain substantial salary increases for its members A Qantas spokesman today said arrangements had been made for alternate flights to take passengers scheduled to fly out of Sydney «>n Thursday. The strike would not affect incoming services, he said. In Melbourne today, the Chiel Judge of the Commonwealth Industrial Court <Mr Justice Spicer) made an order in chambers calling on the Air Pilots’ Association to show cause why it should not be prohibited from stopping work on Thursday. The order is returnable tomorrow The order was sought by counsel for Qantas and the two major internal airlines. Trans-Australian and Ansett-Ana.
